about
“Kiss of Deers” is a musical project formed by Keith Pinney and Loretta Heywood, the legendary voice of Bomb the Bass, most notably “Winter in July”. A top 10 hit around the world in the 90’s and an evergreen song for fans around the globe today.
Keith and Loretta having released an original track and subsequent remixes under this new moniker, decided it was time for this classic song to re-appear again in a new context. With her voice, a new arrangement and under a new guise. In a musical setting fitting the sentiment and state of our world.
The opening line “Look around..wonder why..” says it all.
With Guy Sigsworth (an original co-writer with Tim Simenon and Loretta) giving his blessing, guidance and adding some key rhythmic elements, Keith set about a new more orchestral path and arrangement. The vocals being recorded in Brighton under “Lockdown” and sent “as is”.
Keith enlisted friend and collaborator Eddie Rayner (Split Enz, Crowded House fame) to add his formidable arrangement and mix skills to the project. Someone whose name is synonymous with striking and dramatic music, with a distinctive pop edge.
The result is a song with a soaring gorgeous vocal, a powerful orchestral and rhythmic arrangement and an emotionally charged finale.
This is “Winter in July” 2021. Recorded and produced, globally In Lockdown.
A song for our times. Again.
Look out for the forthcoming remixes!
Love.
The Deers.
